For more than three decades, Steven Estepp has had the privilege of serving in public education. Today, he’s in his 31st year as an educator and 14th year as superintendent of Mariemont City Schools near Cincinnati, Ohio.
Throughout his career, Steven has served as a high school English and video production teacher, communications and broadcast manager, assistant principal, principal, director of curriculum, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. Each role has reinforced a belief that continues to shape his work today: leadership isn’t just about achieving results, it’s about creating experiences that shape people’s lives.
Steven has been fortunate to lead Mariemont City Schools through a period of sustained excellence and innovation. During that time, the district has earned numerous state and national honors for academic achievement and is one of only four school districts in Ohio to have every school recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School.
One of the defining experiences of Steven’s career was leading the development and successful implementation of Destination 2026, an ambitious 12-year instructional blueprint that united educators, families, students, and community members around a shared commitment to transforming learning. More than a strategic plan, Destination 2026 became the framework that guided the district for over a decade, expanding opportunities for students, strengthening organizational culture, and helping position Mariemont City Schools among Ohio’s highest-performing school districts.
Building on that journey, Steven recently led the development of Destination NEXT, the district’s new strategic plan for the future. Together, these initiatives reflect something he’s come to believe deeply: Meaningful change doesn’t happen through isolated programs or inspirational speeches. It happens when leaders combine purpose with consistent structure and intentional action over time.
That belief has evolved into Steven’s unique leadership framework:
Personal Meaning + Consistent Structure + Intentional Action = Impact
It’s the foundation of his speaking, writing, and work with leaders across education and beyond. Whether leading a school district, facilitating a leadership retreat, delivering a keynote, or writing, Steven’s goal is always the same: Help leaders discover what has shaped them, create a compelling future for others, and build organizations where people thrive.
Steven’s guiding philosophy is simple:
Because How We Lead Becomes How We Impact.
At the end of the day, Steven believes leadership is deeply personal. Every leader has experiences that shape what they value, what they notice, and the future they feel called to create. When we understand those experiences and intentionally connect them to the way we lead, we don’t just improve organizations—we change lives.
Steven is grateful for the opportunity to continue that work every day and hopes the ideas he shares encourages others to lead with greater purpose, greater intention, and greater impact.
